Understanding Alzheimer's & Dementia: Learn basic information on the difference between Alzheimer's and dementia, prevalence, risk factors, local resources, research and FDA-approved treatments.
Presented by Phil Shippers, a Community Manager for the Alzheimer's Association of Rochester and the Finger Lakes with a focus on the Southern Tier.
Phil earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from St. John Fisher University, has a long history of nonprofit management and has worked with a variety of service partners across the state. Phil and his family have experienced the challenges of Alzheimer's disease first-hand as caregivers for his mom and dad.
Phil is a trained dementia care specialist, conducts individual and family care consultations, recruits and oversees volunteers, and leads support groups and community outreach activities.
